What a perfect way to spend a glorious autumn day then to take the family on a hiking adventure through the Bruce Trail. Located along the Niagara Escarpment, The Bruce Trail is one of the oldest and longest of Canada’s trails. With its picturesque nature, it surely is a perfect way to spend a cool fall day.

The Bruce Trail has 9 sections just waiting for you to explore each of them. The wonderful thing about the trails is that the Bruce Trail Conservancy continually maintains the beauty of it. The Conservancy’s goal is to produce and preserve a Trail that creates the least possible ecological footprint, all the while offering a lovely experience for all. With all of the fall foliage, waterfalls, vegetation and natural beauty this is truly one of the best ways to experience the lovely autumn season. Take a little fun for the whole family by partaking in the Bruce Trail Heritage Tree Scavenger Hunt where there are 16 unique trees along the Bruce Trail and you are to spot each of them and then send in your code words found on the trees. It surely is a unique way to spend an adventurous day. With the “Family Fun” section on http://brucetrail.org/pages/family-fun you will spot a whole lot of adventures awaiting your little ones. The tools located on the website are a guide to ensure your children can explore The Bruce Trail all the while learning a thing or two.

If you want to gain the full experience then set up a tent and camp for the night along the Trail. Reservations must be made in advance as there are select areas were you are able to camp and they fill up ever so quickly. If you aren’t very keen on camping then enjoy a night’s stay along The Bruce Trail at the many Bed and Breakfasts and hotels along the trail. Visit brucetrail.org to see a list of accommodations along the trail awaiting your arrival.

On October 2nd partake in the Annual Bruce Trail Day where you can partake in a free-guided tour and various family activities that allow all to explore all the beauty the trail has to offer. You will not only be a little more educated on The Bruce Trail but will be understand just what goes into maintaining such a lengthy piece of land. Step into a world of a perfect fall-like hike and take in the vibrant colors of falling leaves along the trail.

A perfect autumn day is awaiting you along the picturesque Bruce Trail.
