Things to Do, What's New — By Kristen Manieri on March 22, 2010 at 7:19 pmThis week marks the beginning of Orlando’s biggest PGA tour event – the Arnold Palmer Invitational, formerly known as Bay Hill, from March 22nd to 28th. Tickets are still available for this huge event (CLICK HERE) which will host PGA giants like Fred Couples, Phil Mickelson and Ernie Els… sorry sports fans, Tiger’s holding out for the Masters.
Many of golf’s superstars call Orlando home and for good reason; Orlando is a golfer’s mecca. There are a ton of fabulous golf courses, designed by legends but open for public play seven days a week. Here are a handful of greens you need to check out:
Champions Gate Resort features two 18-hole courses designed by Greg Norman.
Celebration Golf Club, designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr. and Robert Trent Jones, Jr., has only one whole that’s free of water hazards.
Voted #1 Public Golf Course by Orlando Magazine, MetroWest Golf Club currently hosts the US Open Local Qualifying.
Shingle Creek is one of the area’s most beautiful courses owing to its natural Florida backdrop along the historic Shingle Creek headwaters.
Designed by PGA Tour player Gary Koch, Mystic Dunes Golf Club is minutes from Disney and offers a challenging course in a pristine setting.
