How to Pack for a Spring Trip to Orlando
Travel Tips, What's New — By Kristen Manieri on March 22, 2010 at 7:52 pmIt looks like the temperate 70-degree weather might be here to stay for a month or two before the scorching late-spring and summer heat sets in. That being said, this year’s Central Florida weather has been very bizarre with temperatures swinging in between the 50’s and the 70’s within a matter of days. So, just to be sure you’ve got all your bases covered, here’s a quick snapshot of what to pack when visiting Orlando this spring:
- No matter what time of year it is, don’t make the mistake of simply packing flimsy flip flops. Bring a pair of good running shoes since you’re bound to clock a lot of mileage at theme parks, outlet malls, and on I-Drive.
- Bring a light rain jacket with a hood just in case there’s stormy weather. If you’re planning on a summer visit, expect a quick rain shower nearly every day around 3pm.
- Layer! It can still be pretty cool in the morning, even on days that warm up nicely by late morning. Being able to add or shed layers is the key to all-day comfort.
- Don’t be fooled by cool days – you still need to wear sunscreen, even if you only plan to be outside for a short amount of time on a chilly day.
- Bring a light sweater to wear in the evenings which can cool down to low 60’s.
- Most restaurants, especially in Orlando tourist areas, are pretty casual. However, if you are planning on dining somewhere fancy (such as Victoria and Albert’s) you’ll need to pack something nicer such as a dinner jacket and evening dress.
- Spring can still be a little chilly for beach escapes, but you never know, you might luck out with a heat wave. Make sure to pack some beach towels just in case the opportunity to head to Cocoa presents itself.
