Orlando for Adrenaline Junkies

Things to Do — By Kristen Manieri on May 18, 2010 at 9:55 am

When roller coasters alone fail to deliver enough thrills to satisfy your inner adrenaline junkie, thank goodness you can get your fix at several exhilarating Orlando attractions designed to take your breath away.

At the Richard Petty Driving Experience located inside the WDW resort, NASCAR enthusiasts experience a once-in-a-lifetime ride in their very own race car. All you need is a valid driver’s license, the ability to drive a standard transmission, and a little courage. Rather not take the wheel? Opt for the Ride-Along program and you’ll ride shotgun in a two-seat stock car driven with a professional instructor for a three-lap NASCAR qualifying run at speeds exceeding 150 mph.

SkyVenture Orlando has simplified the skydiving process by eliminating the airplane. This indoor skydiving experience located in the heart of International Drive allows jumpers to experience the sensation of free fall and body flight in a safe but exciting environment.

At Wallaby Ranch Hang Gliding Flight Park, voyagers glide 2,000 feet (607 meters) in the air for 15–20 minutes using the latest tandem areotow techniques. Individual flights take place with an instructor in a two-person hang glider that’s pulled by a small tow plane.

Located inside Walt Disney World, Sammy Duvall’s Watersports Centre offers water skiing, wakeboarding,  kneeboarding and tubing through Disney’s crystal clear  waterways. All basic equipment can be rented at the complex’s pro shop and instructors are top notch. If the weather is windy, you can even try parasailing.
