An Orlando Sunset

Sunset at Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge

There’s nothing quite so tranquil as watching a sun dip gently into the ocean. On this fair night, my husband and I had just finished watching a space shuttle gloriously take flight from Cape Canaveral. We floated in our kayaks just a few miles away from the launch pad and counted down with our fellow paddlers as the rockets ignited and the shuttle soared across the sky. It’s was as moving as it was memorable. This adventure was courtesy of A Day Away Kayak Tours which runs several kayaking trips at the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge, including the famed shuttle launch tour. It’s an easy paddle through waters home to manatee and massive cranes.  Hands down, this experience was one of my favorite Orlando adventures since moving here four years ago.
