OMG we are experiencing AMAZING Orlando weather, making me want to shout from the rooftops “it’s patio time again!” Whether you’re looking for Sunday brunch, late afternoon cocktails, or an al fresco dinner, Orlando’s patio scene offers a slew of outdoor eateries and happy hour haunts.

Briar Patch on Park Avenue

Downtown Orlando: Head to Thornton Park where having a rockin’ patio seems to be a neighborhood ordinance; every restaurant here has a sunny patio, even if only to house a handful of tables. Favorites include Hue (especially during Hue’s legendary monthly Sunday Disco Brunch), CityFish (great place to devour a lobster roll while watching the world drift by) and Aroma Coffee and Bistro where noshing an egg and cheese croissant and sipping a latte has become my personal version of heaven.

Around Lake Eola, a handful more picturesque patios await including 310 Lakeside (across the street from Lake Eola), Relax Grill and Spice Modern Steakhouse.

Winter Park: Park Avenue is another patio haven with most of the chic eateries offering sidewalk seating. While most of the Park Avenue spots (Luma, Briar Patch, 310 Park South) boast only a very small piece of street side real estate, more ample patios can be found west on New England Avenue in the Hannibal Square district. Here’s where you’ll find my personal patio favorite at Hot Olives. This tranquil outdoor refuge is enclosed by bamboo and lights up with tiny white bulbs each evening.

About a ten-minute drive away, Houston’s sits on Lake Killarney and offers the most idyllic setting for lakeside libations. I’m a shiny new person once tucked into one of their Adirondack chairs with a glass of wine in my hand.
