PhotoFriday: Ypsilon Bridge
Travel Tips, What's New — By Anne-Sophie Redisch on May 7, 2010 at 6:41 pmFor today’s Friday photo, we’re going out of town. We’ll go west – to Drammen, an attractive river city a mere half hour by train from Oslo. Drammen is famous for having gone through a metamorphosis of major dimensions. Formerly infamous for being an annoying intersection – somewhere you had to drive past on your way to a weekend in the mountains or by the sea – this is now the most exciting city in Norway.
Drammen is the recipient of numerous national and international awards for urban planning, including The European Urban and Regional Planning Awards 2008, The European Council of Spatial Planners, the ECCS European Steel Design Awards 2009 and many, many more. The latter is awarded for Ypsilon, a masterpiece of a foot bridge.
