Perth Zoo Concerts at Night Not Just For Animals

What happens at the Perth Zoo when the sun goes down? Well, the animals listen to live music, of course! Not every night, but when the Nocturnal Concerts series is running, then the animals get treated to a heap of great Australian singers and groups.

Of course if you’re visiting Perth at the right time you can also get along to one of these great Nocturnal Concerts. As the name suggests they are held in the evening, usually on a Saturday, in the zoo grounds – in the large grassed picnic area. Perth is famous for its glorious fine summer nights, so don’t be worried about the weather. You can take a picnic blanket to sit on or if you have them, some low-backed, just-off-the-ground chairs – a kind that are very popular amongst Perth people for our many outdoor events.

Tickets for the next season of concerts have just been released and you can get the full details at the dedicated Nocturnal Concerts website – but in summary, this concert season runs from November 2010 to February 2011 and features Australian artists like Kate Ceberano and Noiseworks. I’ve been a couple of times and always had a really enjoyable evening, and I always envy the animals who get to hear all the concerts for free!
