Stuck in Philadelphia because you can’t fly home because of some darned volcano spewing ash over the North Atlantic?  There’s no need to lament; here are some activities to keep you entertained over the next few days!

The Free Library Festival at the central branch at 20th and Ben Franklin Parkway offers programming for all ages, including poetry readings, music, and a street fair.  At noon on Sunday, Sapphire, the author of Push (from which the movie Precious was adapted) will speak at the Bank of America Main Stage.

Visit the Earth Day Festival at the Academy of Natural Sciences, Sunday from 10am to 5pm.  Meet scientists, watch a performance of The Lorax, and do crafts, all for just the price of museum admission.

Kite Society event at Longwood Gardens

Join in the Kite Festival at Longwood Gardens.  Bring your own kite or buy a kite assembly kit there.

See Inside the Mind of a Dancer by BalletX at the Wilma Theater.  Learn about the entire process of dance, from choreographing to performing.
