Philadelphia’s own Jose Garces, winner of the Food Network’s Next Iron Chef, was featured on a special Cinco de Mayo episode of the Today Show this morning. Garces taught Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb how to make marinated skirt steak and fresh margaritas with pineapple. Best of all, Kathie mentioned several of Garces’ award-winning Philadelphia restaurants, including Distrito (modern Mexican) and Garces Trading Company (gourmet market and cafe)! Philadelphia restaurants are in the national spotlight, woohoo! Garces’ other restaurants are Amada (Andalusian tapas), Tinto (Basque-style wine bar), Village Whiskey (whiskey bar with classic bar dishes), and Chifa (latin-asian fusion).
