World Cup 2010 in Prague

Events, Things to Do — By Jacy Meyer on June 10, 2010 at 11:36 am

The Czech Republic isn’t in it, but that doesn’t mean Prague’ers aren’t into it. World Cup 2010 in South Africa runs June 11-July 12. Pubs all over town will have their TVs tuned in, and many will be offering special menus and drink prices during the games. Here’s a few suggestions of where to watch:

Old Town Square: A massive TV screen is set up amongst the history and architecture of Old Town Square. Catch the games with hundreds of other football fanatics. Food and beer stands are there too.

Sports Bars: Can’t be missed in Prague. Zlata Hvezda near Wenceslas Square and O’Che’s near Old Town Square are both good bets.

If you want something more upscale, hit the Zest Bar in the Hilton Prague. They’ve got a huge 2×3 meter screen so you won’t miss one kick, push or goal. Plus, they’ve created a special “national team menu” with international meals from participating World Cup countries. The Hard Rock Café always has a good menu full of lots of sport watching grub. They’ll be showing the games on 2 large screens with special menu prices for those watching.

A full World Cup schedule can be found here on FIFA’s website.
