The Reno Rink on the River opened up over the Thanksgiving holiday and is one of the most popular activities downtown during the holiday season. The rink is on the location of the former Mapes Hotel right on the Truckee River. The rink operates every day when the weather permits until February 21, 2011. There are lessons available if you don’t know how to skateā€¦but nobody is going to be judging you. Skating for the disabled is also available with the use of sledges and poles. The rink is also a great place to people-watch, listen to some live music and grab a hot dog or a hot drink.

The prices are $7 for adults, $5 for children up to age 12 and seniors are also $5. There is a $2 skate rental. Season passes, group rates and private rentals are available. Parking is free in the Club Cal Neva garage next to the rink. Before visiting, call the Rink on the River Hotline at (775) 334-6268 to make sure the Rink is operating normally. Adverse weather or equipment problems may cause temporary closures.
