If you visit the Reno/Sparks area, you are most likely going to stay in a casino/hotel resort. There are many to choose from in the area, but some are going to cover everything you need in a vacation: great rooms, views of the mountains, pools and spas, restaurants, casinos for the adults and fun zones for the kids.

Here are the top five hotels in the Reno/Sparks area:

John Ascuaga’s Nugget

Even though it is not in the downtown Reno area – it’s near Victorian Square in Sparks – it ranks up in the top five because of several reasons. The rooms in the Nugget’s Courtyard and the Deluxe East Tower have been upgraded and the Courtyard rooms are pet-friendly. The Nugget has excellent views of the mountains and the rest of Sparks and Reno. The Nugget has several excellent restaurants including the Basque inspired Restaurante Orozko, the Oyster Bar and the Rotisserie Buffet. They have an indoor pool and spa, plenty of parking and are close to the special events in Victorian Square.

The Eldorado

One of the most popular hotel/casino resorts in the downtown Reno area is also host to several events in the area including the Italian Festival. The Eldorado’s rooms are very nice and also have great views of the city and the mountains. The restaurants rank up there with the best including La Strada, Roxy’s and the excellent buffet. The pool is only open in the summer, but there is plenty of shopping and spas , great bars like the Brew Brothers, and the Eldorado showroom shows regular music events and concerts.

The Silver Legacy

The Legacy connects directly with the Eldorado and its neighbor, the Circus Circus. It has over 1,700 rooms and some of the best nightlife around. The best restaurants are the elegant Sterling’s and the Flavors! buffet. The casino is very popular and features a 75,000 square foot dome with a working silver mining rig.

The Grand Sierra Resort

The Grand Sierra Resort, just outside of downtown, is a small city under one roof. The GSR has hundreds of rooms, suites and condos for your stay in the Biggest Little City. Most of the restaurants are award-winning including Charlie Palmer’s Steak, Fin Fish and the fun Johnny Rockets. The GSR also has the best in fun for the kids including a 50-lane bowling alley, the FunQuest Arcade, an outdoor Go-Kart racetrack, extreme rides and miniature golf. The GSR is also known for its excellent entertainment like Van Morrison, George Clinton and Bonnie Raitt.

Just a few miles south of downtown is the sprawling complex of the Peppermill. This Italian style resort has a massive casino and caters to all types of gamers. The restaurants include the Romanza (with its moving statues) and Oceano, which features the freshest seafood in Reno. Nightlife includes dancing at the EDGE, or headliners at the largest free-span convention center in Northern Nevada. The Tuscan inspired lower deck pool is heated and open all year as well as the spa Toscana where you can book a massage or facial. Kids can have fun at the Arcade Xtreme.
