Now that the craziness of Black Friday has ended, take what you have saved and do some shopping at some of your local merchants. There are some great local shops in the Reno area to get that perfect holiday gift. The prices are great and you will be helping out a local store that can really use the business. Here are five of the best places to shop locally in Reno.

Junkee has such a fun and spirited atmosphere it feels like every day is a holiday. This used clothing store is also a great place to pick up antiques and jewelry. Music is always playing and the staff is fun and funky.

Red Chair

Red Chair in Southwest Reno is just plain cool and funky. Aaryn Walker runs this stores which features both new and refurbished furniture, items for the home and clothes from Reno eNVy.

Micano Home and Garden Decor

If you are dreaming of a lovely garden in the middle of winter, come to this store in Midtown. This ethnic and Latin inspired store and art gallery features beautifully handcrafted and local items for the garden and home like statues, fountains and furniture. It is not cheap, but you are bound to find something unique.

Pickled Tink

This cute, little house features items from local artists as well as classes for the aspiring artist in everyone. Pick up a piece of jewelry, some homemade soap or some hand-knitted sweaters for the shabby chic lover on your list.

Lavender Ridge

This is a lovely little escape from downtown Reno. Lavender Ridge is located in Verdi just above the Truckee River and features fields of lavender (in the high desert) that only bloom during the summer, but the little store next door is chock full of items for the home, kitchen and bathroom. Try their lavender lotions and soaps or their lavender rub for meat dishes.
