Sunsets and the City

Rio's sunsets are as dramatically beautiful as the city itself

Like many things in this most beautiful of cities, sunsets in Rio de Janeiro are nothing short of spectacular.
The dramatic landscape sees mountains of all kinds of wierd and wonderful formations jut right out into the crashing waves of the Atlantic Ocean, and when the tropical sun begins to set, the entire scene takes on a golden glow.

The view of the sunset from the top of Sugar Loaf mountain is unmissable, while taking in the view from Arpoador Rock is a wonderfully romantic way to see the sunset without spending a cent.

This photograph was taken from the top of Pao de Acucar (Sugar Loaf), and shows the sunset over Rio, taking in Christ the Redeemer atop Corcovado mountain. The bird flying past is a condor, one of many thousands that circle around the roofs and mountain tops of the city.
