The Provincia di Roma, the governing and informational entity for Rome and its surroundings, has just unwrapped the gift that keeps on giving: Roma & Pìu, a website focusing on culture, events, gastronomy, lodging, environment and everything else located in and pertaining to the 2100 square mile area for the province.
Designed in a salute to all things App Store, the bilingual Italian-English website is easy to navigate and even easier to find information. What does this mean to visitors to Rome? Planning a trip to Rome now means getting out of the city to some of the lesser promoted sites, restaurants and local festivals. And it means that Roma tourism is no longer Rome-centric. Though the Roman Forum is the epicenter of Roman history, the outer landscape of the city and around the province are equally as important for both past and present history.
Not to be missed is this weekend’s Polenta Fest: Feast of the Rencocciata.
