Visiting Rotterdam – What to Pack
Things to Do, Travel Tips — By arwalokhandwala on September 6, 2010 at 2:39 pmLooking forward to visiting Rotterdam? Here are some packing tips:
For the Winter :
Rotterdam can get really cold, specially during the months of Jan and Feb. A decent winter jacket/warm coat, gloves, thick woollen socks, rugged shoes and a winter cap are an absolute must keeping the freezing temperatures and strong winds in mind. Throw in some trendy winter scarves and you have a personalized style statement.
For the Summer :
The temperature in the months of July and August (hottest months of the year) can go upto 30 degrees – though the summer was short lived this year. Do not forget to pack sunglasses, a good sunscreen lotion, flip flops, and some party clothes (the city witnesses some awesome Summer Festivals).
Other points to consider :
- Carry an umbrella (preferably two – since you do not know when you might lose the first one to the winds) and a light jacket at all times. The unpredictable Rotterdam weather will make you appreciate their importance on more occasions than one.
- And of course, do not forget your camera. Rotterdam offers plenty of great photo ops and those memorable ‘kodak’ moments. Bring in a good quality camera pouch too – the sudden rains may play spoilsport sometimes and your camera needs to stay as dry as possible.
- One of the best ways to experience the city is to dress in layers. Then peel off or add on, depending on the weather conditions.
- Lastly, bring along the right attitude and a willingness to explore, to help you make the most of your Rotterdam visit.
