Best Spring Festivals and Activities at the Utah Resorts
Events — By Amiee Maxwell on March 22, 2010 at 10:50 pmWith winter storms in the forecast, some of the best snow on Earth is still to be had at the Utah resorts. It is not uncommon for spring storms to drop 10-20 plus inches in the Wasatch Mountains. With discount lift tickets, end-of-season lodging deals, and a host of spring ski festivals – Utah can’t be beat for Spring break trips or an Easter Holiday destination.
The Canyon’s Spring Gruv
The Canyon’s Spring Gruv is back for its third year and runs from March 26 – April 3, 2010. The 10-day event features live concerts, sled races, pond skimming, and the Red Bull sponsored 1976 games featuring such classics as snowbladecross and old school air contests.
Be sure to ski The Canyons on March 27, 2010 and catch the pond skimming contest followed by a free performance by Big Head Todd and the Monsters. Pond skimming is a crazy old ski resort tradition that officially marks the beginning of spring. Contestants dressed in hilarious costumes take their turn at attempting to cross a 100-foot pond on skis or snowboards.
Check out the Spring Gruv website for a list of all events.

Snowbird’s Downhill Dummy
The Daredevil Downhill Dummy is a favorite spring event at Snowbird and will be held on April 12 this year. Teams build dummies attached to skis or snowboards and then launch them off jumps. Dummy builders are going bigger and more creative each year – so stop by Snowbird’s Gad Valley on the 12th and see some dummies catching some serious air.
Park City Mountain’s Easter Egg Hunt
At 9am Easter Morning (April 4, 2010) Park City Mountain Resort sponsors an Easter egg hunt for children under age 6 at the Kid’s Corral complete with free coffee and hot chocolate for both kids and their parents.
