Friday Photo: Sunset in San Diego

Things to Do — By meaghanclark on June 25, 2010 at 1:44 pm

San Diego is notorious for having sunshine year round, except for the months of May and June when we receive the infamous “May Gray” and “June Gloom.” Though mostly overcast these past eight weeks, every few hours a sprinkling of light slips through the clouds and quickly turns everyone’s faces a shimmery gold.

These images were taken despite the gloomy weather in Ocean Beach and Pacific Beach, the latter the place I like to call home. With tourists running a muck through the city, packing the beaches with their brightly colored umbrellas and water toys, the most peaceful time of the day is overlooking the sunset high up on a hidden cliff somewhere. Luckily my house is just steps away from one such moutain so these shoots were snapped with ease.

No matter what season, San Diego beaches are the prime spot to enjoy this luxurious resort town. From north country’s Swami’s to La Jolla’s Blacks, there is always something magical about spending your vacation, or weekend afternoon, glistening in the sun.
