Pine Needle Basket Class at Indian Pueblo Cultural Center in Albuquerque

Learn the art of pine needle basket weaving April 30 and May 1 with Mary Lou Olivas at the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center in Albuquerque. Olivas, of Ysleta del Sur Pueblo near El Paso, Texas, will teach the fabrication of pine needle baskets using natural materials. She will provide pine needles from trees around her home, as well as natural thread. Over the course of the class, students can expect to go home with a completed 3-inches in diameter basket and endless ideas for work with pine needles. Enrollment is $50; classes are 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. each day. For more information, click here.
