Bike and Heritage Event in Santiago’s Barrio Yungay

The area was founded around the plaza of the same name in 1839, under President José Joaquín Prieto and it was recently established as one of the heritage neighborhoods of Santiago (“Zona Típica” under the Monument Counsel of Chile).
The tour will comprise 15 stops near historic points of interest, which will be explained by the tour’s leaders (In Spanish). this is part of a series of tours which are announced from time to time with a goal of familiarizing Santiaguinos with the city in which they live. Included on the tour will be the cité las palmas, a narrow passageway lined with houses and with giant palm trees inside, Plaza Concha y Toro, and the Peluquería Francesa.
The tour starts at 12:30 from Plaza Yungay, located at Santo Domingo between Libertad and Sotomayor. For those who prefer to pedal over in a group, or are unsure of how to get there, a group will leave at noon from the Galpón Victor Jara at Plaza Brasil.
It is the second of a series of cycle routes, and this one is organized by the neighborhood group of Barrio Yungay, and the Fundación Manos Abiertas.
