It’s a festival for wine lovers, that’s for certain. But Kirkland Uncorked has much to offer even those who can’t stand the thought of cabernet.
Set on the gorgeous shores of Lake Washington, this festival is leisurely in every sense of the word. With the warm sun overhead, the sound of the water and endless glasses of fantastic local wine, it doesn’t take long before you’re wandering across the grass, pleasantly drowsy, unknowingly sunburned and at peace with the world.
For the hours you’re still coherent, Uncorked will keep you entertained, from the live music to dozens of booths featuring paintings, glass sculptures, clothes and more by local artists. And of course – food, food, and more fabulous food. For those who think “lake” is synonymous with “grill,” the highlight (in my opinion) of the festival is the grill off.
This year, it was between three powerhouse chefs; Angie Roberts, Danielle Custer, and Sabrina Tinsley – a true show of girl power. Each chef has a mic, as does the MC, so the entire demonstration is filled with helpful tips and tricks from the pros. And the incredible smell is enough to reel any boat in from the water.
This festival is perfect for a relaxing weekend to unwind, and it’s also a great excuse to head across the lake to check out the charm of Kirkland.
