Special Olympics Polar Plunge in West Seattle

Alki Beach is home to many parties, festivals and occasional pirate fights – and next Saturday, the site of many a blue-lipped, teeth-chatterin’ Special Olympics supporter!

The Polar Plunge, a fundraiser organized by Washington state law enforcement agencies to benefit Special Olympics, is an opportunity for anyone who wants to support this awesome organization to do so by plunging themselves into oh-so-cold waters. Sound like fun yet?

Absolutely everyone and anyone is encouraged to participate by raising a minimum of $50 in pledges for their plunge. Your donation will get you a Polar Plunge t-shirt, lunch and an invitation to the (dry) after party. For help registering and starting a fundraising page, check out FirstGiving. And if you’d rather help out and stay toasty warm, you can raise money, win prizes and cheer on the plungers from the “Chicken Coop.”

The Polar Plunge will be at Alki Beach on Saturday, January 29th, 2011, with registration at 9:00am, presentations and awards at 11:15am, and the plunge at noon.
