New Years in Shanghai – Bringing in 2011 With Excitement

Events — By Lauren Johnson on December 27, 2010 at 6:00 am

Shanghai is the perfect city for epic New Years parties. Ring in 2011 in style, excitement and class in China’s largest city. Here are the happening places to see and be seen as the new year unfolds.

Bar Rouge is having a black tie affair called the New Years Blackout. Black costumes, dresses, suits–everything! 300rmb at the door or book in advance (highly recommended). Entry includes a flute of champagne, though you’ll need to purchase more by the time midnight rolls around! Oh, and did I mention fireworks shoot off the roof at midnight!

Mr and Mrs Bund is a hot option on the Bund for a chic and classy New Years celebration. The dress code is ‘shameless’ which is, in my opinion, a good way to admit the sins of 2010 and then start the new year off with a clean conscience. 100rmb at the door gets you access to a classic party with old school tunes and traditional New Years celebratory cheer.

Barbarossa is going gold for the New Year! Since there is no entry fee and yet loads of prizes, dancers, entertainment, drawings, and a gold glittered classy crowd, this is the place to go for an epic party that could turn into a Midas-touched adventure.

The Park Hyatt is offering an epic New Years Party at 93rd Above, the bar that allows you to look down on the rest of the city. 250 pre-sale tickets or 380 at the door, this party is sure to be one for the books. Maxim Magazine’s sexiest DJ Sassy Pandez will be kicking off the new year in great style, aided by the astonishing staff at the Hyatt.

Windows Too (the Jing’an Location) is ringing in the new year in low-key typical fashion. Expect cheap drinks, a mixed crowd of students, teachers and fun-loving locals, and lots and lots of beer and grilled cheese.
