Where to catch Sunset in Singapore

Travel Tips — By mariannerogerson on June 21, 2010 at 8:22 am

Everybody loves a sunset, and one of the best spots in Singapore to take in sunset is the New Asia Bar, on the 71st floor of hotel Swissotel the Stamford. At 230m from the ground, the three-storey floor-to-ceiling windows ensure you have an unparalleled view across the city. What’s even better, is the generous folks at New Asia Bar hold a happy hour every evening from 3pm – 9pm so you really can afford to take in that sunset in style.

And don’t worry if you feel slightly wobbly – that’s not the lychee martinis going to your head at altitude (although they are rather good…), the floor is actually slanted towards the windows for your maximum viewing pleasure.

If you prefer your sunset with palm trees and lapping waves, then the obvious place to head to is the beaches of Sentosa. There are several options for beach-side bars to enjoy your sundowners in, but a favourite with many locals is Coastes. This rustic beach bar allows you to kick back with the sand between your toes and enjoy the sun setting behind the coconut trees, with a background soundtrack of chill-out tunes courtesy of the in-house DJs.
