Everybody loves the odd foot massage or pedicure, but how many of us would think letting little fish nibble the dead skin off our feet?

The hot springs of Turkey have long been the destination for pilgrimages for those seeking alternative methods of healing for skin diseases such as psoriasis. Here the Turkish spa fish or Doctor Fish of the Garra Rufa species have been used to consume affected and dead areas of skin, leaving the healthy skin to grow.

Now it is the novelty factor that seems to appeal to the masses. The craze for Fish reflexology has caught on in Singapore and become increasingly popular since Underwater World first introduced it in December 2006. Several other spas have since followed suit, with the most popular and easily accessible being Kenko, with their outlets at popular attractions such as the Singapore Flyer, Singapore Zoo and Jurong Bird Park.
