Following my recent post about the opening of the Marina Bay Sands complex here in Singapore, I went to check it out for myself yesterday. Having read about the opening and seen some particularly impressive photos, I was expecting to be wowed – but I was still surprised by just how spectacular it was.
The highlight of the hotel complex has to be the Sands SkyPark – 55 storeys up and spanning the rooftops of the three hotel towers. One side of the Sands SkyPark is allocated to the Observation Deck – this inevitably provides outstanding views over Marina Bay, across the city in all directions and out to sea. An audio guide with corresponding numbers at points around the deck helps you to get your bearings and recognise points of interest.
The other side of the Sands SkyPark is where things really get interesting – here lucky hotel guests get to lounge around in a 150m long infinity pool – at 200 metres up in the air, this has to be some of the most impressive views from a swimming pool anywhere in the world.
Alongside the lap pool are sunloungers, a relaxation garden and serveral Jacuzzis with views out to sea.
A bar, VIP club and restaurant are all under development.
