Happy Birthday Singapore!
Events, What's New — By mariannerogerson on August 5, 2010 at 8:50 amSingapore is gearing itself up for a long weekend this weekend to celebrate the nation’s 45th Birthday! These last few weeks have seen residents proudly hanging out their national flags, and enjoying practice fly-bys by the military fighter jets and Chinooks, and of course the Saturday night firework practice sessions.
But it’s all happening for real on Monday 9th August, Singapore’s National Day, when the National Day Parade will see thousands of proud Singaporeans descending on the Padang to join in the celebrations. The show, following the theme “Live our Dreams, Fly our Flag”, will involve 3,600 participants taking part in a 53-minute long extravaganza of music, dance, fireworks and multimedia effects.
The parade will culminate in a fireworks display promising to be bigger and better than all previous years. The 360 degree display will see fireworks being fired from nine locations, including the Padang, the Esplanade, the rooftop of City Hall and the Suntec Towers.
A fully interactive website is available to help you plan your festivities, and there is even a mobile app to download. Visit http://www.ndp.org.sg/ for more info.
