Today’s Photo Friday is of Sari material for sale at the Tekka Centre in Little India. Now is a great time to visit Little India as Singapore is celebrating Deepavali – the Hindu ‘festival of lights’.
Deepavali is the most important festival in Hinduism, and is the celebration of good over evil, and light overcoming darkness. It is celebrated by Hindus across the world, and in Singapore, the streets of Little India are lit up in bright festive colours, and the whole of Serangoon Road is an explosion of light every evening. So try to make time to head down there one evening soon to explore the street stalls, visit one of the temples, go for a hot curry on Race Course Road, or just soak in the festive atmostphere.
