Live music fans in Singapore are in for a treat this month, with several big names hitting town. It all kicks off this weekend with the Now Music Festival – I Love 80s at the Padang. This two day event on 2nd – 3rd April sees some of the 80s biggest names such as Billy Ocean, Belinda Carlisle, Howard Jones and Samantha Fox taking retro fans on a trip down memory lane with their iconic hits.
Jumping forward a couple of decades… and the White Lies are coming to town. This alternative rock band from England burst onto the scene in 2009, winning new band of the year gongs at both the Q and Mojo awards, as well as coveted NME cover features and a number 2 slot in the NME readers album of the year poll. And now you can catch them live at the Esplanade Concert Hall on 11th April. Meanwhile over at Fort Canning Park the following day on 12th April, lesser known but much lauded Irish band The Script will also be performing.
Now – hold onto your daughters because Canadian pop teen sensation Justin Bieber will be paying us a visit. That’s right Bieber Fever is about to hit Singapore! Having recently swept the 2010 American Music Awards, with wins including Artist of the Year, Favorite Pop/Rock Male Artist, Breakthrough Artist and Favorite Pop/Rock Album, our favourite teen will be bringing his “My World” tour to the Singapore Indoor Stadium on April 19.
For a slightly more mature audience, Maroon 5 will be returning to our shores with their soulful pop grooves on 25th April at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, having sold more than 15 million albums worldwide and nabbed 3 Grammy awards. Meanwhile any rockers amongst you will welcome the imminent arrival of Grammy nominated Switchfoot, who will be rocking Suntec City’s Rock Auditorium on April 28th.
Tickets for all the above events available at Sistic.
