Changi airport is close to the centre of Singapore and there are various options for making the journey into town, depending on your time availability and budget. Here’s our quick guide on how to get into Singapore from Changi airport.

The quickest and most convenient way of getting into town is to take a taxi. There are usually plenty of taxis waiting at the airport so you shouldn’t have to wait long. It is just a 20-30 minute drive to get from the airport to downtown Singapore. Taxis are metered, and the fare should cost in the region of $20.00 – $35.00 depending on the time of day and your destination within Singapore. An additional surcharge applies to all trips originating at Changi airport: This is $5.00 from 5pm-midnight, Friday-Sunday, and $3.00 all other times. If you are in a large group or have too much luggage for a normal taxi, you can book a 7 seater for a $50.00 flat fee.

The MRT (subway/underground) takes about an hour and will cost around $2.00 to get to most parts of the city. You will need to change trains to the west bound train at Tanah Merah train station. The last train allowing you to do this leaves Changi airport at around 11.15pm.

Hotel Shuttle Bus
A hotel shuttle bus serves most major hotels within the city. This costs $9.00 per adult and $6.00 per child and can be booked at the Ground Transportation Desk in the arrivals hall.

Public Bus
Public bus number 36 goes into the city from Changi, running from around 6am to midnight. The fare costs $2.00 and the journey takes about an hour. Stops include Raffles Boulevard, Orchard Road and Bras Basah Road. You will need to make sure you have the correct change as no change is given.
