There are certain times when your hunger cravings demand a big fat juicy steak, dished up with crispy French fries and washed down with a large glass of red wine. If such a fancy takes you while you are in Singapore, then you are in luck as Singapore has some fine steak houses to cater to your carnivorous cravings.
French expats in Singapore flock to tiny French bistro Les Bouchons on Club Street for their steak & frites. Its simple menu offers up a selection of cuts of meat in addition to other rustic French classics. All steaks are served with a side salad and a free-flow order of frites – some say the best frites in town – and offer excellent value for money. A second branch at Robertson Quay offers more of the same, its riverside setting providing its own charm.

Another favourite hangout with local carnivores is The Prime Society in Dempsey Hill. Here the chargrilled steaks are served up on short planks of oak, and those in the know ask for the chef’s famous Gunpowder Steak.
If you’re dazzled by international reputation, then take your pick from Morton’s, which has its home in the Mandarin Oriental hotel, or CUT by Wolfgang Puck at the Marina Bay Sands complex. Both restaurants pride themselves on serving only the finest cuts of beef teamed with eloquent sauces, stellar service and impressive wine lists.
