Carnival Village is set up at the Fort Christian Parking lot, and is ongoing every night until Saturday May 7. Go on down and check out the food, crafts, music and general merriment.
Here are some other highlights:
Saturday, April 30, 8pm: Calypso Extravaganza at Lionel Roberts Stadium (Charlotte Amalie)
Sunday, May 1, 10am: Watersports in Charlotte Amalie harbor. 5pm: Steel band jamboree in Lionel Roberts Stadium
Thursday, May 5, 4am: J’Ouvert, Veteran’s Drive. J’Ouvert is the street party which marks the official start of Carnival. It usually runs till late morning. Go on down, find a float to follow, and bring a towel to mop up the sweat.
Friday, May 6, 10am: Children’s Parade, from Market Square to Lionel Roberts Stadium
Saturday, May 7, 10am: Adult Parade, from western cemetery to Lionel Roberts Stadium
9pm: Fireworks over the harbor
10pm: Calypso “Spektacula” and last lap.
