Autumn not only brings cooler temperatures to Taipei, it also ushers in the season of all things German. Just because you’re in Asia doesn’t mean you have to miss out on the fall festivities. Wendel’s German Bakery & Bistro will be hosting two alcohol-centric events over the coming months as a means of introducing German culture and food to Taipei’s residents and expats.

While the beer may be Germany’s main claim to fame, the wine is pretty good to, and to show it off, Wendel’s German Bakery & Bistro will be hosting a series of events to celebrate Winefest 2011. Every Wednesday Wendel’s hosts a garden BBQ in the nice outdoor seating area, and during Winefest, the BBQ will include a White Wine Free Flow.
Throughout the festival Weingut Schumacher winemaker, Michael Acker, will be hosting wine tasting dinners (the perfect romantic date!), and if you just want to sample, come taste some seasonal items from the a la carte menu while sipping on some of Germany’s best wines.
For the past several years, Wendel’s has been one of the only places in the city to celebrate Oktoberfest, and this year is no different. For most of the month of October, the restaurant will be serving up a special menu while hosting a series of Oktoberfest events for Taipei’s German residents, but of course everyone is welcome. More details to come!
