In many destinations, affordable accommodation is synonymous with boring, dirty, drab hotels rooms that lack character and creature comforts. While Taipei’s hotels are notoriously tiny, the emergence of inexpensive boutique options throughout the city means you can get a clean, quirky, and relatively comfortable hotel room without blowing your trip budget. For all those flash-packers or budget travelers who’d prefer to skip the hostel experience for a real room, these three hotel offerings represent the best of the best when it comes to affordable lodging.

While the rooms at the CityInn’s three locations are small, even for Taipei, they are tastefully decorated with the help of local artists and come with super comfortable beds, friendly staff, and plenty of character. Each room is has a different theme and all come with free laundry and kitchen facilities. With four locations scattered throughout the city, you’ll be close to the must-see locations no matter where you chose to stay.
