Free concerts to sit and relax and enjoy the music!

Many towns in the bay area participate in free summer concerts.  Saint Petersburg has  Music Fest on the Water on Sundays from 1 pm..until 4 p.m. Free live music every Sunday in the Courtyard at St Pete Pier, 800 2nd Ave N, Downtown www.stpetepier.com. Treasure Island offers Saturday Sunset on the Trail. From 5 p.m. to 9 p.m the 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month. This family event can be found on the beach trail from 104th ave to 108th ave. www.citreasure-island.flus/saturdaysunsets.  In Clearwater the 4th Friday of the month is the 4th Friday on Cleveland St. from 5:30 until 10 p.m.www.4thfridayclearwater.com. Safety Harbor offers the Third Friday Music Series. Every 3rd Friday from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. at the John Wilson Park Gazebo. for more informtaion  go to www.cityofsafetyharbor.com Many of these events not only have live music but vendors and other entertainment.  At Ulmer Park the 2nd Friday of every month Sunset Sounds offers a variety of musicians including  blues concerts  in the park from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. Gulfport has concerts on the waterfront the 2nd Friday of each month from June through August. from 7:30 until 8:30 p.m. It is located behind the Gulfport Recreation center. They do have drink vendors at the event as well. Dunedin has Starlight summer concert series on Fridays from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. starting in September at Highlander Park at 1920 Pinehurst Road, Dunedin. Tampa holds their free concerts at the Park Square lawn at FishHawk Ranch every Friday. It’s called Concerts with a cause. They ask that you bring a non-perishable food to donate.  Saint Petersburg also has a folk art series.  It will be July 16th from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. located at the St. Petersburg  Museum of Natural History.  First  Fridays in St. Petersburg are held the 1st Friday of each month. It offers a free concert by the band On-Que-Players  starting at 5 p.m on 200  Central Avenue in Saint Petersburg.  Saint Petersburg has many different music events. The towns in the bay area all have some type of summer concert series. If you can’t find what you’re looking for on this listing check with your chamber of commerce or the town website. Usually you will also find free music at the street festivals and craft shows that occur in the area. Whatever your music flavor there is sure to be something you will like without having to travel too far.

If you’re traveling with your yacht and your pet a great location is on it’s own secluded beach in Saint Petersburg at Magnusen Hotel  This luxury hotel has five star accommodations along with it’s very own marina with 32 boat slips.  At the entry to the sunshine sky way it’s superb location will get you anywhere quickly in the bay area. You may just want to venture back and forth from your yacht to the hotel.  With a fitness center, swimming pool and hot tub why would you want to travel anywhere else? If your an active group or family there’s plenty to keep you busy with tennis courts, volleyball courts, shuffleboard and yoga classes. If your needing office space the hotel offers meeting space for your special events. So whether you choose to watch the sunset from the restaurant  patio or from your yacht you’ll be sure to find fun and relaxation on your yacht and vacation for your pet! The hotel does however have a pet policy and a weight limit of 50 lbs.  A limit of two pets per room and the room has to be pet friendly. Your pet must also be current on all its vaccinations. And there is a $20.00 fee per pet. Contact the hotel for a copy of the “pet addendum”.  The restaurant is by the pool area and  overlooks  the bay. Periscopes serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. It is part of the private marina and beach at the hotel. The Banyan Tree Deli serves lunch meals at the hotels pool area.  The menu has hamburgers, hotdogs, drinks, snacks and sandwiches. You are still able to enjoy the dining at either location if you aren’t staying at the hotel.  If you like to fish then being right at the base of the Sunshine  Skyway you will be able to fish all day and then enjoy the amenities of the hotel.  There is $1.00 fee each way on the Skyway.  It is open 24 hours at both the North and South fishing pier. Prices are $4.00 per vehicle and per adult.  Oversize vehicles like campers are $12.00 ea. You don’t even need to bring a fishing pole as they have rentals for $8.00. If arriving by  boat they do have transient slip availability. So if you’re a local looking for a great dining experience or a vacationer wanting to stay in one place then the Magnusen Hotel-Marnia may just fit the bill.

Caladesi Island State Park

What better way to explore the area beaches than by ferry which is the only way to get to Caladesi Island State Park. It runs daily for a fee of $12.00 per adult and $6.00 for kids 6-12. Kids under 5 are free. No pets are allowed on the ferry. Honeymoon Island State Park is a huge Beach expanding over 9 miles long. . Known for it’s vast array of unique shells on the North end of the beach it’s only one of many things to do. Snorkeling and birdwatching are other favorite activities.  There are also nature trails and observation decks. Cafe Honeymoon is a nice two story snack bar and gift shop at the South end of the Beach.It has Kayaks available to rent by the day or by the hour. South Beach pavilion has bicycles for rent by the day or by the hour. One of our top beaches in the area is Honeymoon Island and Caladesi State Park. On the way to both beaches is also Dunedin Causeway. Parking is free at the causeway. Honeymoon Island fees are $8.00 per vehicle with a limit of 2-8 people per vehicle. $4.00 Single occupancy.. $2.00 if you walk in or bike in. Clearwater Beach is also a popular tourist beach with the many resorts,  5 start restaurants and fabulous nightlife.  You will have to pay for parking at Clearwater Beach as well. It is metered so remember to bring lots of change or dollar bills. The variety of events that also occur in Clearwater Beach are another reason that it’s always crowded.  Sunsets at Pier 60 is a nightly artist event where you’ll find all local artists selling there one of a kind art. There is also music, face painting and of course the glorious sunset, weather permitting. As for nightlife there is Shepard’s a two story dance club and many other pubs and bars with late night menus.  During the day there is no need to drive if you don’t want to. The Jolly trolly runs throughout the day and is only %4.50 for unlimited rides. It will take you all over Clearwater Beach and also to the mainland for more shopping.  At any of the beaches you’re sure to see some dolphins if you keep your eyes open. Whether you go for a few hours or several days one thing you will notice is the friendly Florida service you’ll receive whatever beach to decide to have fun at.

4th of July

Forth of July are many people’s favorite holiday. Barbeques and buying fireworks are a nationwide family traditional past time. The Bay area has several great locations that have top notch fireworks with music and events .Downtown channelside will light up the skies with fireworks and music combined. Fireworks start after 9 p.m. on July 4th. All of the small surrounding towns in the bay area have their own events. If you’re visiting family and friends there is sure to be a great seat to find near home. Clearwater has a big fireworks display at Coachman Park. The event starts at 4 p.m. and fireworks at dusk.  Dunedin has a 4th of July parade and food vendors. If you sit anywhere along Gulf to Bay Blvd in Dunedin you can see the reflection of the fireworks overlooking the bay. Each suburb of Tampa Bay has their own set of community fireworks. Gulfport has fireworks at 2401 53rd St. S Gulfport, FL 33707,  Safety Harbor at the Safety Harbor Marnia 110 Veterans Memorial Ln. Safety Harbor, FL 34695.  St. Pete Beach Access Park in Saint Petersburg has fireworks starting at dusk.  St. Pete Pier has fireworks  the address is 800 Second Ave. N.E.  St. Petersburg, FL. The Westfield Brandon Mall has fireworks and they are located at 459 Brandon Town Center
Brandon, FL 33511. Clearwater Beach has fireworks on Memorial Causway which overlooks the bay. You can see fireworks from anywhere along Gulf to Bay Boulevard heading to Clearwater Beach.  You can watch from the beach or on the Causeway.  Another great spot to see the fireworks in a cozy atmosphere is at Marker 8 bar at the Beso Del Sol Resort. You can have a drink and enjoy the view from their patio. Or cool off in one of their refreshing pools.  Another unique way to celebrate is on a boat called the Seascreamer. They are having a 4rth of July event from 7:30 p.m. until 10 p.m. Watch the fireworks from the boat and enjoy the water and no crowds! The cost is $35.00 per adult.  Children 12 and under are $25.00. Remember to bring blankets or comfortable folding chairs, bug repellent and an umbrella! Sit back and enjoy all the activities, spectacular fireworks and remember that we are lucky to have our freedom!

For a $10.00 cover charge (half of which is reimbursed to you in chips), you can play for the whole day! Although it may not get you far at the tables, it will get you a relaxing six-hour cruise. The three-story yacht has everything you could need for a day trip. Bobalouie’s  Grill and Sports Garden was voted one of the best  Karaoke bars in Tampa Bay.  On Friday and Saturday night from 9:30 .p.m until 2:30 a.m. you can come and sing your heart out! If you need some liquid courage to get up on stage there’s always plenty of drink specials. Happy Hour is 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. 7 days a week! with two for one drinks. For the best dancing in the Tampa area Whiskey Park North is one of the most unique dance clubs. Boasting two stories high and one big dance floor to let off some steam there’s no place like Whiskey!  There’s also six bars to choose from. With 6 locastions in the Tampa Bay area one is certain to be near you. All with similar specials each location has a better feature. One of the busier locastions always seems to be on Veterans Highway in Tampa. With several bars and two dance floors no wonder it’s a popular place. Green Iguana Saunt Petersburg is right on the water with outdoor patois and a pet friendly outside bar. The Stadium location is across from Raymond James Stadium on Dale Mabry in Tampa. Also with plenty of outdoor seating and events. There are newer locations in South Westshore, Brandon and  Ybor City.  For a dj or live music at the outside bar and patio there’s a huge dance floor. Inside is a
smaller area but there is quiter places to lounge around and hang out.
