With the Oscars being on tonight, I am definitely cheering for Darren Aronofsky’s Black Swan, which had me (like his previous films) on the edge of my seat the whole time. But the film also left me wanting to see the actual ballet itself. Well, this week in Toronto, the ballet is on.
Tchaikovsky’s masterpiece tells the story of Odette, a princess turned into a swan by an evil sorcerer’s curse. In order to break the curse, she must win the love of the Prince, and all is going according to plan, that is, until, the Black Swan shows up and messes everything up. Chaos ensues.
The ballet is showing at the Sony Centre for the Performing Arts and tickets can be purchased here.
