Visit the Gardens of the Reggia di Venaria next month from April 16th, and discover the art of landscaping and savour the tastes of Italy amongst the extraordinary orchards and vegetables gardens. This year, the superb Gardens of the Reggia will also host the new Potager Royal, a 10 hectare site of vegetable gardens and orchards cultivated with numerous vegetables and cereals from Piedmont.

Turin’s National Car Museum

Today sees, the National Car Museum in Turin reopen. Following the evolution of cars, so much a part of this motor city, through a display of some 150 examples. Plus drawings, prints, posters and models, many of which are available in the museum’s bookshop.

Turin’s Museo Nazionale del Risorgimento

This month, after 5 years of redevelopment work, the Museo Nazionale del Risorgimento in Turin reopens to the public. Previously seat to the Parliament of the Kingdom of Italy, today it hosts over 2,000 exhibits spread over 3,800 square metres and shows over more than 4 hours of films.

Turin’s Museo Civico d’Arte Antica

This month sees the Museo Civico d’Arte Antica, at the Palazzo Madama, celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Unification of Italy with the reconstruction of the Great Hall of the Italian Senate. From 1848, the Palazzo Madama hosted the Senate Subalpine and then, from 1861 to 1864, the first Senate of the Kingdom of Italy.

Turin’s Officine Grandi Riparazioni

From 17th March until 20th November 2011, the “Officine Grandi Riparazioni” will be staging three large exhibitions to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Unification of Italy.

A journey through the history of Italy over the last 150 years discover who the Italians were and who they believe they will become.

Turin’s Officine Photographic Exhibition

Turin’s “Officine Grandi Riparazioni” is part of a complex of buildings, located on the western outskirts of the city beside the Milan to Turin railway line. Occupying an eneormous area of some 190.000 square metres and containing gigantic constructions resembling modern cathedrals, with 200 metre aisles. Seen as a vital step towards the city’s transformation into a great industrial centre.

As part of the “150″, there is a large photographic exhibition during 2011, featuring 150 atmospheric pictures, reflecting the crafting techniques, products and the appearance of the Officine over the years.

Turin’s The Misanthrope

Next month sees the staging of The Misanthrope (French: Le Misanthrope ou l´Atrabilaire amoureux) a 17th-century comedy of manners in verse written by Molière at the Teatro Carignano in Turin. For ticket information check out the Teatro Carignano’s website.

Turin’s Assaggi di Teatro

Just a quick reminder that “Assaggi di Teatro”, an event offering an elegant combination of fine cuisine and theatre where Chefs prepare special meals for the occasion, inspired by the shows at the Teatro Stabile is still running until May 2011. Featuring chefs such as Alfredo Russo, Claudio and Anna Vicina, Pierluigi Consonni and Stefano Gallo. Their creations can be experienced in their restaurants during the period that the shows that are being performed at the theatre.
