Vancouver’s Top 5 Romantic Restaurants for Valentine’s Day

Vancouver is the perfect canvas to paint a romantic day and/or night, should you be so lucky! The mighty mountains that are blanketed in white, loom closely behind the crisp Pacific waters, while beautiful beaches and sunsets sprawl across the city. Tres jolie! Valentine’s Day is fast approaching and if you plan on spoiling your sweetie, pay attention because we’ve got some tips for you.

Splurge

There’s nothing more decadent than beautiful food in an atmosphere that’s easy on the eyes and West Restaurant + Bar has this formula nailed down pat. The Chef’s Tasting menu is a fabulous way to enjoy the evening because it showcases some of the best items on the menu and gives you and your date a chance to sit down, savor and enjoy each others company (see: gaze longingly into their eyes) over an extended period of time.

It's how the West was won.

Charm

Les Faux Bourgeois is off the beaten path and is definitely one of the most charming restaurants in Vancouver. Les Faux Bourgeois serves rustic French cuisine that’s easy on your wallet, but doesn’t compromise quality and taste. If you can’t go to Paris, bring Paris to Vancouver when you visit this charming French bistro.

Steal

Twisted Fork is an unlikely gem amongst the sea of bright lights along the Granville Street strip. This restaurant serves fabulous bistro fare at a bargain price, especially if you make their blue fence special. The blue fence special gives you three courses for $25 and the portions are very generous and quite delicious. The wine menu boast small BC wineries that are all reasonably priced and when the bill comes, you will be pleasantly surprised at this steal of a deal!

Go Back

Chambar is a place that I will go time and time again for a number of reasons; everything from the cocktails, to the beer and wine list, mixed with the cozy yet hip atmosphere, the mouth-popping-good food and the stellar service are what make this a spot I will never say no to. If you like mussels, Chambar has the best mussels in the city and the portion is enough for two to share, while still having room for an appetizer and dessert. Stroll down to The Keefer for a night cap and this girl is sold.

Chambar knows how to keep you coming back for more.

Have a Cheap Date

Sometimes a quiet night in is just what the doctor ordered, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t put together a spread that’s fit for a king. Jump over to Granville Island and grab some oysters from the Lobster Man, some charcuterie, gooey cheeses, just-baked bread or even fresh pasta and pick up a bottle of something sparkling on your way home. This is a recipe for success and when you surprise your other half with this feast, you’ve got it in the bag! Romance doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg and if you choose to eat al-fresco on a blanket on your living room floor, well…that’s amore!

Whatever your heart desires, you will find at Granville Island.

If none of this tickles your fancy, win your love over with a trip for two to Paris and enter the NileGuide’s Fall in Love with the City of Love contest.
