If you’re just visiting Vancouver during the Stanley Cup Playoffs, you better join the bandwagon and cheer on Vancouver’s prized hockey team. During game nights, enthusiastic fans can be found all over Vancouver (heck, all over Canada at this point) cheering on our winning team. Part of the fun during the Stanley Cup Playoffs is getting together with friends, either in your home (hotel room in your case) or out at one of Vancouver’s restaurants and bars to watch the game, have a few beers and nosh on some sustenance. The last time Vancouver was so excited about the Stanley Cup was in 1994, so the city has some pent up cheering on to do. So, here are a few pointers to blend in with local fans:
- Kit yourself out with a Canucks jersey, t-shirt, scarf, face paint, or whatever you can get your hands on.
- Grab a seat in any bar where there’s a television and make sure to get there early. Places that don’t normally have a TV are bringing them in just so that no one misses out on any of the action.
- CBC, Canada’s national news network, is hosting a Fan’s Zone outside of their 700 Hamilton Street address. It’s a very popular place to be, so go, make friends and have fun!
- Hit Granville Street after the winning games and you’ll be pleasantly surprised to see how many happy fans will take to the streets to celebrate with their fellow Canucks lovers.
- Most importantly, cheer!
