It’s well known that Washington has been wild about cupcakes for quite some time. Witness Georgetown Cupcake, a local confectioner so beloved it got its own television series. The second season of TLC’s DC Cupcake, a show that follows the lives of Georgetown Cupcake owners and sisters Sophie LaMontagne and Katherine Kallinis, kicks off on February 25 at 10:30 pm with the premiere episode set at the Great Ape House at National Zoo. To celebrate, the shop is selling a limited edition cupcake in honor of the zoo.

Through March 4, Georgetown Cupcake will be selling their “Gone Bananas” cupcake, a honey and banana flavored cupcake, and giving all proceeds to the National Zoo’s conservation efforts. The special cupcakes will be available at both the original store in Georgetown (at the corner of 33rd and M Streets) as well as at the store in Bethesda (located at 4834 Bethesda Avenue).
