The Colombian people are renowned for being full of life, music and spirit, who thrive on the chance of a fiesta, dance or drink. This is definitely reflected in the variety and uplifting atmosphere of the Bogotá nightlife scene, which offers an illuminating array of activities any night of the week you wish.
For those of you that want to get involved in the authentic culture and party with the locals, there are many live music and dance venues on offer. The Bogotá crowd love to dance and salsa joints can be found jam-packed with both the young and old, artfully twisting and spinning around a bustling dance floor. For a moving evening experience, a must is to hop on a “Chiva”- a very Colombian concept of partying on a moving bus. The rustic artisanal style buses are characterized by being painted colorfully, with local figures and national colors, and offer a ride though the most lively areas of the city whilst playing booming traditional music, providing entertainment and serving drinks of your choice.
Bogota’s cultural scene is always thriving, with the opportunity to spend the early part of the evening in an art-house cinema, or a sophisticated theater. The thespian enthusiasts will particularly revel in a trip to the Theater Colon, which is situated in the beautiful colonial quarter of town and hosts operas, ballets, plays and concerts. The theater is also home of the Colombia’s national symphonic orchestra, which can be found playing live in concert every Friday.
Most of the best bars and clubs are to be found in the Zona Rosa area of town. Zona T, in the heart of the Zona Rosa, offers a stretch of pedestrianized streets ablaze with countless smoky cafes, swanky bars, and buzzing discos. Although most clubs close at 2 or 3 am there are always “after party” options for the tireless dancers and drinkers.
