• Here, at El Techo on the fifth floor of the El Retiro shopping center, you begin to wish it was the Day of the Dead every day. Festooned in kitsch decorations, El Techo is a nightspot, a bar, a restaurant and a cultural experience all rolled into one. Can't get a seat, perch yourself at the bar and enjoy a well mixed margarita or go for something distinctly un-Mexican and knock yourself sideways with a vodka martini. The food is good, at times it wavers, but in reality, you are here for the experience, the setting, the wailing mariachis and the view of the night over the Zona Rosa. Yes, you pig out on any number of types of taco and you can drown yourself in Sopa de Tortilla but stray from firm favorites and enjoy some mole or stuffed chiles or even some seafood here.
