• It takes a brave soul to open a tea house in Bogota and take on the all powerful might of coffee - Colombia's traditional cash crop - and make a success of it. Located in a tranquil residential street up the hill from the bustling Carrera Septima, the Taller de Te offers a zen like peace to those who frequent the locale. Regulars speak in hushed tones to not disturb others all the while sipping from one of dozens of varieties of tea. Rainwater is recycled here making the Taller de Te perhaps one of the few properly environmentally conscious establishments in the city, if not Colombia. Its covered patio garden at the back is a delight to relax in in the dying embers of Bogota's bright high altitude sunshine and blankets are offered to stave off the cold. Food in the shape of organically produced and prepared muffins and almond croissants are on the menu making the Taller de Te a place to visit more than once and come and stock up on precious teas imported to Colombia and only available here.
