Somewhere between a raucous Canadian university bar and an unloved hunting lodge (albeit one with too many plasma TVs); that's the Stuffed Beaver, although the only taxidermy examples I spotted were unlucky moose.But it did evoke that North American diner feel, what with a long bar to perch at or booths to sit in, sports memorabilia, blaring rock and roll, and a menu featuring tacos, hot wings, and poutine (that particularly French/Canadian concoction of French fries topped with cheese and gravy).
A group of guys and gals covered in ink (some wearing bandanas) sat at the bar on the drink. Alongside them, a half eaten hot dog lay discarded next to several empty bottles of Miller Draft. The barman had a fair share of tattoos, and a bandana too. Might be some sort of uniform?
In a nod to local tastes, Melbourne Bitter long necks are offered. What memories. I'd forgotten how good this Carlton and United Breweries stalwart was. And to be fair, the poutine wasn't too bad either. Basic cocktails (read double shots) can be had if beer's not your thing.
