There is no question that Boracay is unique because of its 7 km stretch of fine, powdery white sand beach surrounded by a translucent aqua colored sea. But what really makes this island magical is its special spirit. Largely a result of the dreams of local islanders, and travelers or city dwelling Filipinos who arrived on the island and found that they never left, Boracay is a place built from love. It's the kind of place where no lines exist and everything flows in an open circle- where foreign visitors and locals become lifelong friends, where bankers, businessmen, backpackers, artists, kite surfers and models mix freely without a thought. It's a piece of paradise accessible to anyone, where you can truly be and do anything that you dream of - whether spending a day unwinding while enjoying a fruit shake from a comfy lounge chair on famous White Beach, jumping on a motorcycle in search of the island's quieter coves or trying water sports such as sailing , scuba diving or kite surfing. It helps that the layout of the island is easy to navigate, and that it's small enough that you might recognize people you see but large enough that there are always new friends to make and new things to discover. White Beach is divided into 3 boat stations, and establishments give the name of the nearest station in order to help specify their location. Higher end hotels tend to be nearer to station 1, whereas more budget friendly accommodations are focused around station 3. Station 2 is considered "downtown", where many popular bars, restaurants and shops can be found. Hotels range in price, amenities and décor, from native bamboo type bungalows to western style concrete structures. There are also many hotels, dive shops, shops, eateries on the beach foot path that runs along white beach. Set back from the shore by rows of coconut trees, this pedestrian walkway is a great place to meander if you want a break from the sunshine. If you come to Boracay between November and March, a visit to Bulabog beach, famous for its perfect kite and windsurfing conditions, is a must. A 10 minute walk from station 2, kite enthusiasts from all over the world have come to play on its shores, which are lined with kite shops, small hotels, eateries and bars. It has become its own little community and provides a great contrast to the scene on white beach. Boracay also has the best beach nightlife in the country. Its not unusual to start your evening, local rum and coke in hand, watching the sunset directly in front of you on white beach, continue on for a delicious dinner at one of the island's cuisine diverse restaurants, and digest by listening to some live music, while lounging on a beanbag in the sand. And when the moment seems right, wander down to one of the many hip beachfront bars, and sip and dance the night away to the latest international hits. If you find yourself getting carried away and find the sky getting lighter, you have nothing to worry about- make your way to Bulabog beach and end your evening watching a beautiful sunrise…
