  • You will be spoilt for choice when it comes to accommodation – it is geared to all budgets and tastes. White Beach, on the west side of the island, is a 2 km stretch of white sand and the majority of hotels and hostels are situated here.

Bulabog Beach, also pronounced Balabog, is the main kitesurfing beach and most accommodation is geared towards the kitesurfing community. It is on the east side of the island. Reef Retreat a small hotel next to the windsurfing centre Reef Riders Windsurfing School and kitesurfing school Ocean Republic, is a particularly quaint place to stay – there is even a tree house in the garden.

Manoc-manoc is situated on the southern end of the island and you can see the village of neighbouring Caticlan from the coast. Manoc-manoc beach is windy throughout the year so kitesurfers and windsurfers are not uncommon in the area.

Yapak, the area near the bat cave, also has accommodation available for those travelers who want to get away from the main tourist areas. If you choose to stay in Yapak you also might want to consider hiring a scooter for your stay. It is a popular area for divers - the sea around Yapak is rich in coral and gorgonians. Hammerheads and manta rays have occasionally been spotted in the area. Yapak is situated in the north of island.

Wherever you choose to stay in Boracay always try and haggle on the price, especially in low season where hotels are willing to reduce their rates. If you are on a budget try exploring some of the small side roads behind the main beaches, there are lots of basic places to stay and they don’t come with the premium price tags.

It is advisable to book ahead during peak seasons (Christmas, New Year, Chinese New Year and Holy Week) as the island gets extremely busy and accommodation becomes scarce.
