Planning a Trip

Getting There

By Train -- There are trains almost hourly to and from Genoa (regional: 2 hr., 20 min.; high-speed: 2 hr.), and two to three trains per hour connecting with San Remo (13 min.).

By Bus -- Riviera Trasporti buses (tel. 0184-592-706; www.rivieratrasporti.it) run every 15 minutes between San Remo and Bordighera (20 min.). Buses also run between Bordighera and Ventimiglia.

By Car -- You can take Autostrada A10 between Bordighera and San Remo, but the coast road, S1, is almost as fast. In fact, there is such a contiguous line of development along the route that you won't know where one town ends and the other begins.

Visitor Information

The tourist office is at Via Vittorio Emanuele 172 (tel. 0184-262-322; fax 0184-264-455). It's open Monday to Saturday 8am to 7pm and Sunday 9am to 1pm (closed Sun Oct-May).

Festivals & Markets

It's a sign of the pleasant nature of this resort that one of the major annual events is a humor festival, held in late August/early September. Stand-up comics perform along the streets and seaside promenade, humorous films are shown, and general merriment is presented. Thursday morning's market fills the Lungomare Argentina with stalls selling a bit of everything.
