Description:
Boston Ballet's reputation seems to jump a notch every time someone says, "So it's not just The Nutcracker." One of the top dance companies in the country, Boston Ballet performs an eclectic mix of classic story ballets and contemporary works during the rest of the season (Oct-May). The holiday classic runs from Thanksgiving to New Year's at the Opera House, 539 Washington St. Beginning in the fall of 2009, the Opera House will be the company's full-time home, which is great news for dance aficionados. The current venue, the Citi Wang Theatre, was originally a movie theater, and the pitch of the seats makes the top two balconies less than ideal for watching ballet. Paying more for a better seat is a good investment. Nutcracker tickets go on sale in early July; for the rest of the season, in September.
