Things to Do Near Rose Wharf, Boston, MA

  • The Best of NileGuide
  • Boston has an abundance of museums, historical sites, and attractions. These are just a few of the reasons why Boston is one of the top ten most visited tourist locations in the country. Located in the Fenway neighborhood the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston is one of the preeminent art museums in the country. First opening in 1876, it is now the home of not only Impressionist paintings, but also a 5,000 year-old mummy and shows current films at the MFA’s Film Program. While you are at the MFA you’ll have to visit Fenway Park. The oldest baseball stadium in the country offers guided tours, but more importantly you can buy tickets for a Red Sox game if you want to get into the action up close and personal.

Boston is a city with many historical sites commemorating the American Revolution. As such you have to make time to explore the Freedom Trail. This is a three-mile tour that links 16 historical sites related to America’s Independence. Visitors start at Boston Common in Beacon Hill where you can get a sense of what it was like to be near the soldier camps set up during the British occupation of Boston in 1775. You’ll follow the trail to the North End of Boston to Paul Revere’s House and you’ll feel the electricity surrounding Paul Revere’s famous ride to Lexington, Massachusetts warning John Hancock and Samuel Adams the British were coming to arrest them. Not only will the Freedom Trail give you a big dose of American history, you should also stop by Faneuil Hall and Faneuil Hall Marketplace. Great orators gave rousing revolutionary and abolitionist speeches at the former while the latter is today a fun shopping/dining excursion for the whole family.

There are definitely some kid-friendly attractions in Boston as well. Check out the Franklin Park Zoo or the Museum of Science. Located in Dorchester in the northern end of Franklin Park, the Franklin Park Zoo offers young and old the opportunity to meet over 220 animal species. The Museum of Science on the other hand is a museum chock full of hands on science exhibits, an IMAX theater and planetarium, and a full-motion simulator.
